Excaliber Stables was founded in 1993 when
the Basham family purchased their first miniature horse. They were hooked
and continued to buy more minis and eventually added Shetland ponies to
their show string and breeding program.
Brenda took over as main exhibitor and
trainer, only using professional trainers when needed. Her parents, Pam and
Carroll Basham, continued to be the financial and moral support. They loved
to watch the foals play, and Brenda and the herd were consistently
improving.
In 1999, Jason Prince and his son, Taylor,
joined the farm. Jason brought with him knowledge and experience from
working with Arabs and Saddlebreds. Taylor brought amazing natural ability
to show halter and drive. Both have been a great addition to Excaliber
Stables.
After a few years of showing in amateur
classes and winning many AMHR National titles & ASPC Congress titles and
being under the tutelage of some of the top trainers in the Shetland and
miniature industries, in 2007 Jason & Brenda opened Excaliber Training
Stables. They continue to work hard with the miniatures and ponies to win
more national titles for their clients and themselves.
